Memorial Day weekend's coming and that means it's time for a road trip. On Friday myself and five of the guys are going to get in the van and make the haul to Pittsburgh. We'll be met by Big Bri as we cross the Hot Metal Bridge and led to a bar that was recently a church. The forecast looks warm so I'll be leaving my NASCAR jacket at home this time.

I've got quite a few rolls worth of color negatives in my closet from the days before I shot digital. Some of those pictures are pretty nice so I've always wanted to scan them so I could work them a bit and print them digitally. The other day I saw this rig for copying slides and I decided to try something similar. It actually worked surprisingly well. I'll definitely be playing some more with the setup.

I saw recently a mention of boabab trees. These trees aren't something I see mentioned often so naturally one reference really sticks in my mind - Le Petite Prince. I also found an english translation of the specific boabab chapter. It turns out I've forgotten a whole lot of my French but can still make sense of most of what I read. This story is one of my favorites and I enjoy coming back to it every few years to see it from a fresh perspective.

I am the broadband king! After two years of dial-up access I'm back on broadband with my cable modem. Combined with the wireless setup I picked up a while back, I have a sweet 3.1MBps throughout the house.

The concert last night was great. The band sounded pretty tight and Maynard was right on. There was a good mix of songs from the two released albums. The set list went something like:

vanishing, pet, hollow, magdalena, weak and powerless, orestes, the package, blue, a stranger, 3 libras, the noose, the nurse who loved me, thinking of you, thomas, the outsider, judith

We had a blast.
